US Holocaust Memorial Museum's Arthur and Rochelle Belfer National Conference for Educators, July 8-10 (for English Language Arts educators) and July 11-13 (for Social Studies educators).
Since 1994, the Belfer National Conference has trained over 4,000 educators nationwide to begin to provide quality Holocaust education in American secondary schools. For three days, participants are immersed in the Museum's exhibits while learning historical content from top scholars and guidelines for teaching the Holocaust from Museum educators and leading Holocaust educators.
I invite you to share with teachers who have taken part in your programs the information on the Belfer National Conference. For the Social Studies conference, we plan to focus on using maps to teach about the Holocaust. To learn more about the Belfer National Conference or to register, please click here visit our website. Acceptance is first come, first served.
Both programs are held at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. Participants receive vouchers of $100 to use in the Museum Shop, as well as free books and other teaching materials. Lunch will be provided for two days.
Participants are responsible for arranging and paying for their travel and accommodations; however, scholarships are available to help with these costs (see the website for the scholarship application). Community college faculty are encouraged to apply.
